What is it?

The Warm Homes Plus scheme in Northern Ireland is an enhanced version of the Warm Homes scheme which is available to people over the age of 60.

In order to be eligible for the scheme, you must own your home or be a private tenant. You must also get one of a list of benefits including Pension Credit, Housing Benefit, Attendance Allowance and Disability Living Allowance.

The Warm Homes Plus scheme can convert a solid fuel or Economy 7 heating system to an oil or natural gas system, or can install one if you don’t have heating. It will also provide various types of insulation including cavity wall insulation, loft insulation, hot water tank insulation and radiator reflectors. The Warm Homes scheme can also give you energy efficiency advice.

To be eligible for the basic Warm Homes scheme you must be in receipt of a qualifying benefit and either have a child under the age of 16 or be disabled. If you are under 60 but in receipt of a qualifying benefit and if you are disabled or looking after a child under the age of 16, you may be entitled to the insulation and energy efficiency measures.
